Ella Henderson is set to headline this year’s Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On celebrations.
The award-winning singer-songwriter will perform an extended set of her music in a free outdoor concert on the Tower Festival Headland on Friday, August 30.
Having had more than a billion digital streams of her music she has joined the prestigious Brit Billions, with hits including Alibi, Crazy What Love Can do and 21 Reasons.
Appearing on the Switch-On stage in 2021 the former X-Factor contestant was hindered by pandemic restrictions and the show was performed in front of a small audience and streamed on YouTube.
This year she will perform on the outdoor stage, which saw a record 80,000 people attend last year.
Cllr Lynn Williams, leader of Blackpool Council, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ella back to Blackpool to headline what is going to be an amazing night.
“She is the perfect performer to headline a concert that will feature the very best of local, national and international talent.”
Her performance will be followed by the iconic Switch-On moment, which will trigger four months of illuminations.
She will be joined by Grammy-nominated artist and founder of The Pussycat Dolls, Kimberly Wyatt.
The American-born singer, dancer, actor and TV personality will be playing some of the biggest tracks of the Noughties as well as dance hits and other pop classics.
And Rockstar Weekend will be performing their unique mass participation touring production, Massaoke, which will feature lyrics from plenty of crowd-pleasers to create the biggest family singalong in Blackpool’s history.
A selection of Blackpool’s brightest young musicians will also be taking the stage in the run-up to the main event.
A 90-minute showcase of local talent has been put together by the Upbeat Rock Academy, which organises rock music tuition for more than 300 students from across the Fylde Coast.
Young people will be joined by House of Wingz, an award-winning hip-hop dance crew which has featured on national television.
The name of the Switch-On celebrity will be revealed in the coming days.
