A popular Accrington cat, known for hanging out at a local supermarket, has gone missing and his owner has issued a plea.
Jerry ‘the Asda cat’ has become somewhat of a local celebrity in Accrington. The British longhair cat is often found outside Asda in Hyndburn Road, eager to greet people who visit the supermarket.
Owner, Racheal Hall posted a missing poster to Jerry’s Facebook page, which has amassed more than 4,000 followers.
She said Jerry was last seen at the start of July and has since disappeared.
Racheal, who rescued Jerry after he was abandoned as a kitten on the side of the road, said Jerry has been chipped so if he is found he can be taken to the vets.
Posters are set to be distributed around the area in a bid to find Jerry.
She said: “Jerry the beloved Asda cat and the adored pet has gone missing. He was last seen around the beginning of July and has since disappeared.
“Jerry is chipped so if he is found he can be taken to a vet who can contact his owner.
“During the day he is usually at either Asda, Screwfix, B&M Bargains or Aldi.
“Obviously I am very worried and am praying that he is okay.
“I really appreciate everyone's concern and am so thankful that people are keeping an eye out for him."
More than 600 people have shared Jerry’s missing poster on Facebook. Many have left messages of support.
