Children in Oswaldtwistle have raised money for Alder Hey Hospital after hearing about the recent stabbings in Southport.
By selling sweets and drinks outside their house Lucas Hartley, Millie Leaver, Madeline Fish and Kirsty Mitchell raised more than £200.
The local community were thrilled to see their fundraising and quickly came round to enjoy a soft drink and some sweets.
Millie’s mum Hayley Leaver said: “I am really proud of them, and they have done an amazing job.
“They took it upon themselves and wanted to do something good.
“They have done amazingly and me and all the other parents are incredibly proud of them.”
Next door neighbours Georgia and Jude Cunningham were also quick to get involved and sold on some of their old toys - raising an additional £15.
The children plan to continue doing fundraisers in the future and hope to raise more money for several causes.
Alder Hey’s Children’s NHS Foundation Trust said on Thursday, August 1, that it was delighted to announce two of the children in its care were discharged following treatment.
The hospital continues to treat five other children who also suffered knife wounds during the deadly attack, which claimed the lives of three little girls.
More than £350,000 has been raised following the horrific attack on Monday and the children’s hospital has explained that donations will be used to support the victims, families, first responders and clinicians and funeral costs will also be covered.
It also intends to use the funds to invest in the future of the wider Southport community.
