Huge crowds gathered at a pub in Paythorne, in memory of a 10-year-old boy who tragically died.

Thomas Bull died on June 10, following a “tragic accident at his family home”. Police say this was a quad-bike accident.

At the weekend, crowds gathered at The Buck Country Pub, in Kiln Road, for a fundraising event.

Money was raised for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which took Thomas to Leeds General Infirmary after the accident.

A live auction, music, food, children’s activities and a raffle were available on the nights.

Earlier in the day, farmers also auctioned off some of their livestock, with proceeds going to charity, in honour of Thomas. Charity buckets were available at the event and donations were made through Thomas’ Much Loved fundraising page.

In total, £36,808 was raised, with more donations still coming in.

Emily Waddington, a family friend who knew Thomas well, said the night was “amazing and emotional”.

She said: “We chose the Buck Inn as it’s at the centre of the village where Thomas lived. Thomas absolutely adored the landlady.

“We planned kids' games to keep them entertained so it was a real family-friendly event. It’s something Thomas would have absolutely loved.

“Thomas’ mum, Jo, really appreciated what the air ambulance did for Thomas and took him straight to Leeds. They were incredible [with the family].

“You never plan to need the air ambulance until [an emergency] so it was nice to do something for them.”

Emily said the event was “heaving” with people eager to support the event and remember Thomas.

“The amount of support was incredible and it just blew our minds,” Emily said.

“People’s generosity makes me emotional. We organised the night for a small group of locals and thought just a few people would turn up.

“People were there who didn’t know Thomas but they had children and Thomas’ story hit home with them.

“The funds raised show what an amazing community we have around us. It’s been overwhelming.

“The family is so grateful for the support. I want to thank everyone who donated and who is still donating and supporting the family through this tough time.”

A tractor procession was organised for Thomas on the day of his funeral.

The tractor-run on Friday from Paythorne headed to the Toll House into Gisburn, along Blacko Road, Roughlee and then onto St Mary’s Church, Newchurch.

After the service, the tractors returned to Gisburn Mart and then to Skipton Crematorium.

Emily said Thomas was the “kindest most generous person you would ever come across”.

She said: “He’d have given you his last sweet if it would make you smile, he was so kind-hearted and so lovely.

“He was definitely looking down on us that day. Everyone at the event was so kind and generous, laughing and having a great time.  It was like they embodied his personality.”
