Blackburn police found a stolen vehicle thanks to reports from members of the public.

Officers were made aware of a vehicle that had been in the same spot for three to four weeks. It was also not known in the area.

Police checked the vehicle identification number (VIN). It was discovered that the vehicle had been stolen and on cloned plates.

The owner has been contacted and the vehicle has been recovered.

Officers have thanked members of the public for reporting suspicious behaviour, which resulted in the vehicle being found.

A police spokesperson said: “Neighbourhood officers were made aware of a vehicle that has been in the same spot for the last three to four weeks and has not been known to the area. 

 “We have been down to the area and checked the VIN number on the car and it came back stolen and on cloned plates. 

 “The owner has been contacted and informed and the vehicle has been recovered. 

 “Many thanks to members of the public who have contacted us regarding suspicious behaviour, which has resulted in this great result.”
