Police have seized vehicles, and issued others with warning notices, as its operation to ‘bin the bangers’ continues in Nelson.

Last week, officers visited an area at the bottom of Brunswick Street.

With the help of the DVLA, 14 vehicles were seized, two were issued warning notices, one was seized from the top of Brunswick Street for being dangerously parked and another was seized as it did not have tax.

The council also took part in the operation and issued three abandoned vehicle notices.

Burnley police also seized 14 untaxed vehicles in Burnley.

A police spokesperson said: “Operation bin the bangers continued in the Nelson area last week.

“We visited an area at the bottom of Brunswick Street and seized 14 vehicles with the DVLA.

"Two vehicles were issued warning notices, one vehicle was seized from the top of Brunswick Street for [being] dangerously parked and one was seized that had no tax.

"The council also came with us and issued three abandoned vehicle notices.

 “After we had seized the vehicles, we arranged for the cleansing team to clean the area where the cars had been parked.

 “We also rolled out Bin The Bangers in the Burnley area. Burnley police had a successful day with the DVLA and seized 14 vehicles with no tax.

 “Please continue to report these vehicles, we are really starting to see a difference in the community.”
