Blackburn actress Helen Flanagan has hit back at social media users after cruel comments were made about her appearance.

The former Westholme School pupil posted a video to her one million followers, showcasing her hair and plans to get hair extensions.

While some comments were positive, others targeted Helen’s appearance, in particular her lips.

Helen hit back at some of the comments, urging social media users to “uplift each other” instead of tearing each other down.

One commenter said: “I like following you and your page, I just wonder why you have to constantly stick your lips out non-stop?

“You are pretty and great mum, but every picture and post is you with your mouth open showing your pout.”

Helen replied and said: “I’ve naturally got big lips and that’s just my face, it shouldn’t bother you that much. Women should uplift each other.”

Another commenter accused Helen of “blow[ing]” up her lips with filler adding that there is “nothing natural there.”

Helen said: “I’ve had the smallest bit in my top lip to even out as my bottom lip is big.

"Why say it in such a catty way? What is wrong with women having lip filler anyway?”

The 33-year-old, who played Rosie Webster in Coronation Street, has been confirmed in the line-up for this year’s Celebs Go Dating.

The mum of three, who was previously engaged to footballer Scott Sinclair, will be joined by former Gogglebox star Stephen Webb, Married At First Sight UK's Ella Morgan, Love Island star Chris Taylor, Tristan Phipps from Made in Chelsea and actress and singer Jamelia.

The Channel 4 reality show sees celebrities go on dates with civilians to try and strike up a romantic relationship with them.

According to Lime Pictures, the company that produces the show, the upcoming series promises to deliver an exhilarating mix of dates, mixers, and newfound romances as the new celeb singletons embark on a quest to find their perfect match, guided by the dating agents.
