There are "long delays" on a main road in East Lancashire following a 'medical incident'.
The A56 is closed at the Rising Bridge Roundabout in both directions following the incident this morning.
The AA traffic website says there are delays in the area, particularly through Baxenden towards Accrington.
The website said: "Road blocked and long delays due to medical incident on A56 Southbound from A679 Burnley Road to A680 Blackburn Road (Rising Bridge Roundabout).
"Congestion to Haslingden Bypass as traffic queues towards the roundabout."
Lancashire Police said they are responding to a "medical incident" and advised people to avoid the area.
A police spokesperson said: "Officers are currently at scene of a medical incident, therefore there are delays on the A56 in both directions.
"We advise for you to avoid the area and use an alternative route where possible. We will provide an update as soon as possible."
North West Ambulance Service have been contacted for further information.
