A TV baker from Rawtenstall has teamed up with coffeehouse chain, Costa, to create some incredibly lifelike cakes.
Molly Robbins, who starred in Channel 4 baking series Extreme Cake Makers, has created a realistic frappe out of cake and icing – and it’s difficult to tell it apart from the real thing.
The collaboration is part of Costa’s sponsorship with CarFest, a music and motoring festival that takes place in August.
CarFest, created by DJ Chris Evans, aims to raise funds for children’s charities and create unforgettable experiences for festivalgoers.
For the past three years, Costa Coffee has sponsored the festival, being on-hand to provide coffee, but also quality experiences to CarFest attendees.
Molly, daughter of actor and comedian Ted Robbins, made some branded creations, including re-creating Costa Coffee’s Raspberry Bubble Frappe, as well as a mobile Costa Express truck, in cake form.
Molly said: “I was really thrilled to be asked by Costa to work with them on a new campaign for CarFest, which is a charity festival very close to my heart.
“I have appeared at CarFest for the past four years and really love the festival, which raises millions for children’s charities”.
Molly will be a key part of the FoodFest line-up at CarFest, showcasing her incredible cake creations throughout the weekend.
Attendees can marvel at her artistic creations and enjoy the festival's culinary delights, before heading to Costa Coffee’s brand-new double decker pop-up to refresh themselves with one of their new Summer drinks range.
Costa Coffee will be giving away prizes and the event, which takes place from 23 to 25 August.
Costa Club members can enter a prize draw to win tickets to Car Fest. Anyone who wants to enter needs to make sure they are a Costa Club member, and to head to the app to get involved to be in with the chance of winning.
Molly, 33, opened her cake shop, Molly Makes Cakes, on Bank Street in Rawtenstall, in 2022.
She describes her business as “a little bit different”, selling both “cakes and cute stuff”.
As well as custom cakes, seasonal cupcakes and character cakes, the shop sells a range of range of other interesting items such as baking kits.
She often gets involved in local events. Most recently, she made a cake designed by children across Hyndburn after a competition put together by Accrington Food Festival organisers.
