A Burnley housing association has submitted plans to convert a derelict site into affordable apartments for over-55s.
The former Wood Top School building, in Accrington Road, Burnley, has been abandoned since 2000 with the council, who own the site, failing to to revive it.
Housing association, Calico, has a proposed development featuring 39 one and two-bedroom apartments, complete with communal amenities and personal gardens.
This project aims to address the growing need for quality senior housing in Burnley.
Over the next 16 years, the town's population of over-65s is projected to rise from 18 per cent to 28 per cent.
Wendy Malone, director of property at The Calico Group said: "We are excited to be putting forward proposals for the Wood Top school site which will provide much needed high quality, affordable homes in Burnley.
"We are delighted to be working with Burnley Council in bringing this historic site back into use and continuing our investment in South West Burnley."
