A baker has opened her own cake shop in Barnoldswick and some of the items on the menu look mouth-watering.
Rebecca Husband, 39, opened Becky’s Bakehouse in Gisburn Road, earlier this month. She says cakes and bakes have been flying off the shelves since the doors opened.
After working from home and at a bakery over the last nine years, Rebecca decided to ‘take the plunge’ and set up her own business.
Rebecca, from Burnley, said: “The first few weeks have been very busy and everything has sold so quickly.
“I worked from home for nine years when my children were younger and I worked at a bakery for the last three years before I decided to set up my own business.
“I am 40 next year. As I got older, I asked myself what I wanted to do with my career. With the cost of living crisis, it was a scary decision to make.
“I thought I would just go for it. If I never tried I’d never know what could be.”
Cakes, brownies, cookies, blondies, cupcakes, cookies, celebration cakes and beyond are on the menu. Vegan and gluten-free options are also available, with the bakery catering for all tastes and dietary requirements.
There are also some unique additions on the menu, including a dipping box, which consists of cookies that can be dipped into a pot of sauce.
Cookie pies; deep-filled 'pies' made with a cookie 'pastry' outer shell, are also available.
Becky’s cookie croissants are filled with Biscoff spread, with cookie dough inside and on top.
The treat is then baked and drizzled with Biscoff sauce.
“The cookie croissant is a weekend treat,” Becky said. “They are really indulgent but so good.”
Becky is looking forward to the next few months and is urging the people of Barnoldswick and beyond to come and try her sweet treats.
She said: “I am excited about what the next few months will bring.
“I am from Burnley so don’t know the area so well – but it’s a really lovely area and the people have been so friendly here.”
