A Wilpshire charity has announced plans to remodel a building near its headquarters and it is set to be used for young and vulnerable people.
Child Action Northwest, a charity that has been supporting children and young people for 130 years, is set to remodel a property, based in Whalley Road, with plans to get it Ofsted registered and with young people in place by early next year.
Residential service manager for the charity, Tammy Sutherland, said the home will be for vulnerable young people with complex needs aged between eight and 18 years old.
The aim of the charity, which helps with fostering and supports young people, families, and communities, is to provide a specialist residential service for children and young people.
There will be an in-house counsellor in the team. Tammy said the environment will be “safe, friendly and loving”.
The new and improved site will offer a “holistic programme of care” that is tailored to each young person’s individual needs.
The team is set to work in partnership with young people, their family and friends, children’s social care and other professionals involved in the young person’s life to ensure there is a comprehensive care plan in place.
Our remodelled building will be refurbished to a high quality that will provide a safe stimulating environment with spaces that support nurture and allow privacy as well as common spaces and open spaces to be active.
Tammy said the team aims to “significantly enhance” the life chances of young people in its care.
She said: “We will provide a safe, friendly, loving and enjoyable environment where young people can be supported, encouraged and challenged to build their resilience, empathy, confidence and skills which they will develop and rely on to lead a happy and fulfilled life.
“We strive to offer long-term stable and effective placement and provide a centre of excellence that offers a high level of therapeutic support and social care within a safe environment, to help significantly enhance the life chances of young people in our care.
“Our remodelled building will be refurbished to a high quality that will provide a safe stimulating environment with spaces that support nurture and allow privacy as well as common spaces and open spaces to be active.”
