Delays at a busy Blackburn junction could last for the remainder of the week.

One lane of Feilden Street, where it meets Montague Street, was closed to traffic after a section of road collapsed.

The council was unable to confirm when the work would be complete.

Drivers may have noticed a defect in the road when turning right from Montague Street into Feilden Street in recent weeks.

The section of the road was dug up earlier this week so workers can rectify the problem.

There were longer queues than normal for traffic heading down Montague Street from Barbara Castle Way as one lane has been closed off on the main road leading up to Feilden Street.

Traffic heading to the leisure centre, Blackburn Library and the Reel Cinema

For access to Feilden Street must take King Street and then Princess Street. Or drivers can head further down and take Barton Street.

The lane on Fielden Street into Montague Street is unaffected and remains open.
