A lorry that has collided with a bridge between Preston and Blackburn has blocked train lines in every direction.

Northern Rail posted on X that it is aware of the problem.

Its staff will be on site to inspect the bridge at 11.30am, but delays to journeys are expected.

Services such as the 11.24am service from Preston to Colne will be starting late due to the incident.

A spokesperson for Northern Rail said: "Due to a lorry colliding with a bridge between Preston and Blackburn all lines are blocked.

"Network Rail are aware of the problem and will be on site by 11.30am to inspect the bridge."

Lancashire Police has been contacted for more information.
