A café by the sea in Lancashire has been named among the UK’s best coastal cafés, shacks and cabins in a list by The Times.
Introducing the list, the newspaper said: “Whether you’re heading to the sea to swim, surf or sunbathe, this list of local, independent places to eat and drink around the coastlines of England, Scotland and Wales will keep you well fed.
“From an estuary bistro at the edge of the Lakes to fish shacks and clifftop cafés, these seaside spots all combine good food with great views.”
The Courtyard in Lytham St Annes features in the list alongside cafes in Cumbria, Essex and Edinburgh.
Why The Courtyard is among the UK’s best coastal cafes
The Times said: “The menu here combines a Mediterranean, Asian and British take.
“Local favourites include the brunch steak and eggs Benedict (£14.50), along with the salt and pepper halloumi (£8.50) and crispy prawns (£8.50) from the light plates.
“After digesting, walk the Ribble Estuary Trail, visit the local windmill or dive into the sea at one of the Fylde Coast’s sandy beaches.”

Another commented: “We have frequented this place a few times, having discovered it initially in the summer.
“The food is freshly cooked and offers food options that are quite unique, for example I had an amazing turkey brioche in December with all the trimmings, which was superb and really well presented.
“The décor is inviting and cosy too and the location is convenient being close to the main centre of Lytham. I would recommend booking though as this place is popular.”
On Monday July 8, the café’s Facebook account posted an update to its followers explaining that it will be under new management soon.
