A driver parked his car on a motorway slip road to get some fast food and 'wait for traffic to ease'.
Lancashire Road Police found a car parked and unattended on the Junction 32 entry slip road of the M6 motorway, for Broughton Interchange near Preston.
Just as recovery was called, the driver and his child returned having walked to the nearest McDonald's to wait for the traffic to ease.
The driver was issued a fixed penalty notice.
Yesterday, Junctions 32 and 33 on the M6 motorway were closed in both directions due to a crash.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Road Police said: "This car was seen parked and unattended J34 entry slip road M6.
"Just as recovery was called the driver and his child returned having walked to the nearest arches for a to wait for the traffic to ease.
"This is unacceptable, and driver issued fixed penalty notice."
