A Burnley man will stand trial later this year after he denied possessing an imitation firearm.

James McMillan, 25, appeared in court last week (July 17) charged with one count of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

McMillan, of Lark Street, entered a not guilty plea to the charge.

It was alleged McMillan had an air pistol in his possession and threatened a woman with it in Burnley last month.

McMillan's trial was scheduled for December 17 and is expected to last three days.

A pre-trial review hearing was scheduled for October 29.

He was remanded in custody.
