A man has denied threatening another man with an air rifle.

William Murphy, 43, appeared in Preston Crown Court on Wednesday, July 17 charged with one count of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

It was alleged that Murphy, of St Mary's Avenue, Barnoldswick, had the air rifle in his possession on June 17 and threatened Thomas Parrott.

Murphy entered a not guilty plea and a three-day trial was set for December 17.

He will next be in court on October 21 for a pre-trial review and was remanded into custody.
