A man has been taken to hospital after suffering a "suspected medical episode" on the M65.

Lancashire Police said they were called shortly after 8am to reports of a crash involving one car between J3 (Blackburn West/Wheelton) and J4 (Darwen/Blackburn South).

The motorway was partly blocked on the eastbound carriageway but is moving again.

Traffic was held for around 10 minutes before being released.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called at around 8.10am to a report of a collision involving one car.

"A man was taken to hospital following a suspected medical episode."

Further details on the man or his current condition have not been released at this time.

Earlier, the AA traffic website said: "Partially blocked and slow traffic due to crash on M65 Eastbound from J3 A674 Chorley Road (Blackburn West/Wheelton) to J7 A666 Earcroft Way (Darwen/Blackburn South).

"Traffic was held for 10 minutes then was released."
