Blackburn with Darwen police have arrested a registered sex offender, after a nine-month search.

Last October, police issued an appeal to find Afraz Shoaib Asif, who was seen in Blackburn.

Asif, 40, was wanted after reportedly failing to appear before Blackburn Magistrates Court for sentence on a breach of notification requirements for the sex offenders register and breach of post-sentence supervision.

Police say Asif was recently arrested and has been remanded for the breaches.

A police spokesperson said: “In October last year, we asked for your help to find Afraz Shoaib Asif.

“Asif, 40, was wanted after failing to appear before Blackburn Magistrates Court for sentence on a breach of notification requirements for the Sex Offenders Register and breach of post-sentence supervision.

“To update you, Asif was recently arrested and remanded for the breaches.”
