University Centre Blackburn College has surpassed local and national higher education providers in this year’s National Student Survey, beating the national average in the Academic Support category.

The annual National Student Survey, one of the largest surveys of its kind, gathers the views of students across the UK about a range of factors related to their academic experience, including the teaching on their course, assessment, and feedback.

The 2024 National Student Survey has highlighted the endeavours of teaching staff at University Centre Blackburn College, with 95.8 per cent of students saying they ‘feel supported by teaching staff in their learning’.

Fazal Dad, principal and chief executive of Blackburn College, has commended his teaching staff for their efforts.

He said: “The National Student Survey results amplify University Centre Blackburn College’s teaching staff’s commitment to providing a safe and efficient learning environment for our students.

"I’m thrilled to hear our students are enjoying their time here at University Centre Blackburn College.”

This score is the top in the region for this category and exceeds the national score of 85.6 per cent.

Overall, University Centre Blackburn College's academic support was scored at 94.7 per cent, up from 92 per cent last year, outperforming the national average of 85.5 per cent.

A total of 93 per cent of students at University Centre Blackburn College feel they are able to express opinions, ideas, and beliefs.

There was also a 6.5 per cent increase in the ‘challenging students to achieve their best work’ category compared to 2023 results.

Other figures include:

  • 94.4 per cent of students rated the teaching on their course positively.
  • 95.8 per cent of students agreed that assessments allowed demonstration of learning - highest in the region.
  • 95.8 per cent of students feel supported by teaching staff in their learning - highest in the region.
