A Blackburn charity had donated a fleet of bikes to a school to improve health and fitness activities amongst pupils at one of the town's schools.

The IMO Charity handed over the bikes to Tauheedul Boys High School (TIBHS) as part of a new initiative to encourage eco-friendly transportation and active lifestyles.

The project came about after a group of five students were working on a Social Action Project led by IMO Charity at TIBHS.

The programme’s objectives include encouraging students to adopt physical activity through cycling, reducing the school’s carbon footprint and educating the community about sustainability and climate change.

The students identified, increased bike usage as an effective means to achieve 'significant environmental and health benefits'.

Chief executive of the IMO Charity, Mohammed Sidat, said: “As a grassroots charity, we are committed to supporting our local community and fostering the growth and development of our future leaders.

“We are thrilled to donate these bikes to Tauheedul Boys High School, Blackburn and we hope they bring joy, promote healthy lifestyles, and inspire the students to explore new adventures.

"Together, we can create a brighter and more active future for all”

The students had been exploring how to reduce the school's carbon footprint

Student Raihaan Patel said: “Thank you for the bike. It will really help me get to school faster and stop me from being late.”

Mubarak Ojeleye added: “It is now easier to reach school, instead of reaching school in half an hour, I can reach in 10 minutes. Thank you, IMO, you have changed my life.”

Ahmed Asif said: “IMO bikes have drastically changed my daily routine and specifically how I get to school.”

Headteacher Majid Ditta: “Thank you to IMO for pledging bikes to our school to help with the Environmentally Sustainable Project.

"The bikes, along with helmets, will help massively in our drive to educate our young men about ‘cleaner lifestyles.’

“This reinforces the ‘R’ in our STAR Values of Respect and also supports and reinforces an aspect of the Faith Charter, which is ‘to take responsibility for looking after the planet'.

"Once again, a huge thank you to IMO, who are great supporters of our school.”
