Best GP surgeries in Lancashire rated by NHS patients

The annual NHS GP Patient Survey has revealed the best surgeries in Lancashire for 2024, voted by people who attend them.

The survey asked residents for their opinions on practices, measuring their experiences on a range of topics including the ease of making appointments, waiting times, the quality of care given, practice opening times and out-of-hours services to gain a rating of overall experience.

Of GP surgeries in Lancashire, excluding Blackpool, Lancaster and Chorley, in first place was Slaidburn Health Centre in Clitheroe, with a 97.5 per cent overall experience rate.

In second place was New Longton Surgery in Preston, with 97.3 per cent overall experience rate.

In third place was Park View Surgery in Cumbria, with 96.1 per cent overall experience rate.

Other best rated GP surgeries in East Lancashire in the survey include Spring Fenisco Healthlink in Darwen, Pendleside Medical Practice in Clitheroe, The Castle Medical Group in Clitheroe, and Harambee Surgery in Colne.

At the other end of the scale, one of the worst rated GP surgeries in Lancashire was The Clayton Medical Centre in Clayton Le Moors, with just 40,6 per cent overall positive experience rate.

Other surgeries that rated low in patient experience include Olive Medical Centre on Lime Street, Blackburn, and Burnley Group Practice on Church Street, Burnley, with 41.9 per cent and 47.1 per cent overall customer experience respectively.

The latest survey consisted of around 2.56 million questionnaires sent out to patients aged 16 or over registered with GP practices in England, from January 2 to March 15.

699,790 patients completed and returned a questionnaire, resulting in a national response rate of 27.3 per cent.

The number of surveys completed varies from surgery to surgery, and does not represent every patient who is registered at any one centre.
