Dramatic pictures show the moment a driver was rescued after driving a car into Skippool Creek.

Police, the fire service, and the coastguard were called at 11.50pm on July 13, to rescue a person who was stuck in a vehicle after crashing into the creek.

A person was eventually rescued and handed over to the care of paramedics.

Crews then worked to remove the vehicle from the creek before the tide came in. The coastguard spent around five hours at the site.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard Fleetwood said: “Team was paged at 11.50 on Saturday night along with our flank team Knott-End Coastguard Rescue Team to an urgent rescue of a person stuck in a crashed vehicle in Skippool Creek.

“Police, fire and rescue and ambulance were already on scene when we arrived. After a highly technical operation the casualty was safely extracted from the vehicle and handed to the care of waiting paramedics.

“The fire service was stood down and we remained on scene as the vehicle recovery service needed safety and technical support since the vehicle was deep in the creek and the tide was coming in.

“Two of our mud technicians were deployed with one of our mud rescue sleds, to provide a working platform and ensure the safety of the recovery personnel. After a further complicated operation to remove the vehicle we were eventually stood down at 05.30 to return to station and clean kit.”
