Hundreds of fans packed into pubs and venues across Blackburn and Darwen to watch England take on Spain in the final of Euro 2024.

After going 1-0 down early in the second half England drew level through Cole Palmer, but Mikel Oyarzabal’s 86th-minute goal proved to be the winner as Gareth Southgate’s men finished runners-up for the second Euros in a row.

Ahead of the match, crowds had descended into pubs to watch the match with many turning up hours before kick off.

At Blackburn's biggest live football gathering, hundreds watched the game at the Havelock Inn on the big screen. There was a great party atmosphere throughout the night.

The venue had sold out of tickets just a day after England booked their place in the final after the dramatic win against the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Michael Kill, chief executive of the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA), said the extra support to the sector during the tournament had generated nearly £1 billion in additional revenue for pubs and venues.

He added the industry has faced “immense challenges” in recent years but support from England fans had allowed venues “to momentarily set aside our daily struggles”.

British Beer and Pub Association chief executive Emma McClarkin had earlier said she expected “an incredible 10 million extra pints to be poured in our pubs this Sunday to toast England’s Euros final”.

“A huge £48 million in additional trade for pubs and breweries will be generated by fans across the nation,” she added.
