A Burnley radio presenter has called upon football fans for help after a 14-year-old was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive type of cancer.

Jordan North has asked Clarets fans to take part in two prize draws, which have been organised on behalf of 14-year-old Lucy Wright, from Great Harwood.

Lucy was just eight-years-old when she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma and has undergone gruelling treatment at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and in the USA.

Lucy’s parents, Carrie and Richard Wright, have been fundraising and used the money to take her to the States for treatment to help keep her in remission.

Lucy has to make two more trips to Pennsylvania to complete the treatment plan, which is set to finish in October 2025. However, the family have reached the point where they have exhausted the funds that were left and need support.

Burnley FC have been in touch with Lucy for some time now and, ahead of the new season, want to help get her to the USA for this treatment to give her the best possible chance of a bright and healthy future.

The club has organised two prize draws, offering fans the chance to win exclusive experiences and memorabilia while supporting the cause.

Jordan, Capital Breakfast co-presenter, shared a picture of himself with Lucy and said: “Calling all Clarets fans, please can you help Lucy?”.

The two draws being offered by Burnley FC are:

An opportunity for two young Clarets (between the age of five and 12) to walk hand in hand through the tunnel with a first-team player for a Championship home game of the 2024/25 season. The winners will also receive a complimentary full home kit each, along with three hospitality tickets per winner for the Jimmy McIlroy Suite. There are two mascot packages available in the raffle.
