Emergency services were called to a two car crash in which one vehicle overturned.

Police were called to Blackburn Road between Bedford Street and Briggs Fold Road just after 2pm.

Traffic was brought to a standstill as the road was closed both ways as emergency services dealt with the incident.

The road was reopened just 4pm.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "A car hit another car and was overturned at around 2.10pm.

"There were no serious injuries."

Residents reported heavy traffic in the area, but it was said to have returned to normal at around 5pm.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said, “At around 2:15pm today (Friday, 12th July), firefighters were called to reports of a crash on Blackburn Road in Bolton.

“One fire engine from Bolton North fire station and the Technical Rescue Unit from Leigh fire station quickly arrived at the scene, where a car travelling along the road had collided with a parked car and flipped onto its roof.

“One male casualty had self-extricated from the vehicle and was assessed at the scene by the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). Fire crews removed the vehicle from the roadway and handed over to Greater Manchester Police.

“Crews were at the scene for just over half an hour.”
