A team from a Darwen-based business completed a 5km obstacle course in support of Cancer Research UK last week.

The People Team at Hakim Group took part in Manchester's Pretty Muddy Run on July 5.

The event is an obstacle course that tests participants' climbing, crawling, and sliding abilities. It focuses on fun and teamwork rather than competition.

The team joined the Race for Life to honour those affected by cancer and to raise awareness.

Cancer Research UK funds scientists, doctors and nurses to find a cure for cancers, and provides information to the public.

Their participation was driven by deeply personal motives as many of the team know people who have suffered from cancer.

People manager at Hakim Group, Charlotte Nuttall, said: "We participated in memory of our loved ones and to raise awareness of this cruel disease.

"Cancer has impacted so many of us, and coming together for such a worthy cause means a lot.

"My involvement was particularly poignant as I ran in memory of my amazing Dad and my cousin Jackson who unfortunately both lost their battle to cancer earlier this year.

"I am super proud of everyone in the team, they all absolutely smashed it."

The team completed the obstacle course with "great enthusiasm and determination" and have raised £1,907 through their fundraising page so far.

The team were said to be "enthusiastic about the challenge" on a day "filled with fun, team spirit, and plenty of mud".
