A school held a special presentation to showcase what their Year 7 students love most about their town.

Representatives from Amazing Accrington were invited to judge the presentation at Mount Carmel Roman Catholic High School, with a number of Accrington Stanley-themed prizes available for first, second, and third places.

In the weeks before the event, the students spent time researching facts and statistics about Accrington, as well as getting together in their teams to discuss what makes the town so special to them.

The presentations focussed on a number of key areas including Accrington Stanley, the Peel Family, Haworth Art Gallery, local parks, food outlets, events in the town such as the soapbox challenge and the food festival, and much more.

Zahida Shamim, from Amazing Accrington, said: “The students all did amazing, their presentations were fantastic and it was great to see so much passion and enthusiasm for Accrington.

“While there could only be three winning groups, all the students should be proud of themselves for producing such well-prepared presentations.”

Jill Bowers, assistant curriculum lead for English at Mount Carmel, added: “The students have thoroughly enjoyed working on their presentations and felt really rewarded by being able to present them in front of #AmazingAccrington.

“Our students are very passionate about Accrington and that really showed in what they presented.”
