Short-term train cancellations will take place in East Lancashire this weekend with no replacement bus services.
Northern Rail advised rail users to check before they travel across the North West this Sunday, July 14, as some services from key train stations are unavailable.
There will be no services on Northern's routes from Clitheroe to Manchester Victoria and between Colne and Preston.
Intermediate stops between Clitheroe and Manchester include Whalley, Langho, Ramsgreave and Wilpshire, Blackburn, Darwen and Entwistle.
Between Colne and Preston, affected stations include Nelson, Brierfield, Burnley Central, Burnley Barracks, Rose Grove, Hapton, Huncoat, Accrington, Church & Oswaldtwistle, Rishton, Mill Hill, Cherry Tree, Pleasington, Bamber Bridge, and Lostock Hall.
Also in Lancashire, there will be no service between Lancaster and Morecambe.
Additionally, there will be no trains between Manchester Victoria and Chester.
A Northern spokesperson said: "Our performance and reliability have not been up to scratch in recent weeks and for that we are sorry.
"Our operational colleagues are working hard to keep journey planners up to date, but customers should check closer to the time of travel.
"The fastest way to stay up to date is via our Whatsapp service. Simply send a Whatsapp message saying "Hello" to 07870 606060 and select 'Get Train Info' from the menu."
Northern Rail said it encourages everyone to plan ahead and check journeys before travelling, particularly the last trains of the day which may be earlier than usual and may be cancelled at short notice.
If people choose to travel, they are advised to allow plenty of time to do so and not to rely on last services.
Trains currently showing may not run, with control teams working to update the train plan, but passengers should check closer to the time of travel.
If your train is cancelled, you can claim a full refund, provided your ticket was purchased through Northern. More details can be found on Northern's refunds online page.
If your train is delayed you can claim a refund depending on the length of delay using the Delay Repay scheme.
