The mountain rescue team was called out on Sunday to help an injured mountain biker in East Lancashire.
Volunteers from the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team (RPMRT) were requested by North West Ambulance Service and North West Air Ambulance to woods just north of Edenfield on the afternoon of July 7.
The casualty was given pain relief and had the injury splinted before being placed on a stretcher and evacuated from the woods by a rope system.
They were then transferred to a road ambulance at the bottom of the steep-hilled woods and taken to hospital.
A RPMRT spokesperson said: “Local team members were quickly on the scene and met with the crews along with the casualty before reporting back to our leaders the likely evacuation options from the steep woodland.
“More team members arrived at the location and upon arrival of the team vehicle, equipment was unloaded and taken to the casualty’s location to be able to evacuate them safely.
“As always, we wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
