A woman was left “terrified” with a fractured jaw and a missing tooth after being assaulted by her then-boyfriend.

Preston Crown Court heard Kyle Ludlam-Tattersall, 30, had drunk “a litre of vodka” after returning home in Nelson from a night out on April 29.

The victim had also been on her own separate night out, and when at home she was punched to the left side of her face by Ludlam-Tattersall.

Nick Roxborough, prosecuting, said the defendant was repeatedly asking the woman to go out and buy him crack cocaine before he “flipped.”

He punched the woman to the face which resulted in her losing a tooth which she swallowed.

Ludlam-Tattersall then began pacing around the room and goading the woman to ring the police.

She managed to grab her phone and get to the kitchen where she locked herself inside.

After Ludlam-Tattersall gained entry, she threw her phone at him, which led to him calling her a ‘stupid f***ing b***h.”

The woman then managed to escape through the back door and go out to the street, where a member of the public called the police after noticing the amount of blood on her and that she was not wearing shoes.

She was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where scans showed she had a fractured jaw.

She was unable to open her mouth and there was bleeding from where the tooth had been dislodged.

Ludlam-Tattersall, of Barkerhouse Road, Nelson, was arrested and answered no comment to all questions when interviewed.

He has 13 convictions for 20 offences, including two convictions for battery in 2023 and one in 2017.

Sarah Magill, mitigating, said Ludlam-Tattersall was on post-sentence supervision from a previous conviction at the time of this offence, and that he was struggling with grief as well.

Recorder William Beardmore, sentencing, said: “You returned home late on April 29. You were heavily intoxicated. You told her you had consumed a litre of vodka.

“At midnight you started to pester her to go out to buy you some crack cocaine. She said you flipped and struck her in the face.

“As a result of that blow, you dislodged one of her teeth. X-rays confirmed she had broken her jaw.

“It is perfectly apparent she was terrified as a result of your behaviour.”

Ludlam-Tattersall was sentenced to two years in prison.
