A theatre company will be bringing a performance of Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’ to Lancashire this month.
Set in the stunning surroundings of Brockholes Nature Reserve, just off the M6 at Samlesbury, expect live music and audience participation in this Folksy Theatre Company adaptation of a Shakespearean classic.
As You Like It tells the story of Rosalind, the daughter of a banished duke who falls in love with Orlando. When Rosalind is also banished from the court by her uncle, she takes on the appearance of a boy named Ganymede.
She travels to the Forest of Arden, along with her cousin Celia and the jester Touchstone, to where her father and his friends live in exile.
Rosalind meets Orlando again in the forest and devises an elaborate scheme to find out the sincerity of his supposed passion for her. To further capture his heart, she uses the witty and mischievous façade of ‘Ganymede.’
Leah Ince, conference and wedding sales manager at Brockholes, said: “Folksy Theatre Company really brings stories to life with bold characters and interactive elements. It’s great to see tickets booking up so quickly.
“There is a huge demand for this sort of event in a natural setting, so if you want to attend, we advise booking your place as soon as possible. We will be going ahead rain or shine, so please dress for the British weather!”
The performance takes place on Sunday, July 21, from 6pm until 8.30pm. The timing includes an interval where hot food and treats will be available.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and are free to set up in the performance area from 5pm.
Adult tickets are priced at £16.31 while under-12s are £12.07 and a family ticket costs £49.12. All prices include VAT and booking fees.
To book tickets, visit the events section on the Lancashire, Merseyside and North Manchester Wildlife Trust website.
