A Hyndburn charity has secured funding for veterans to have access to counselling and bereavement support for the next two years.

Community Solutions North West, based in at Elmfield Hall in Gatty Park, Church, has secured the funding through the Veterans Charity.

It will provide access to counselling and bereavement support for local veterans, as well as a wide range of training and personal development opportunities, employment support, and social groups.

The funding will also help to support participants to design a bespoke support package, enabling them to progress towards their identified goals at a pace that works for them.

The charity says whether overcoming a crisis or other challenges, building confidence, accessing therapy, or support with employment and training, they will help people to take the first steps.

A spokesperson said: “We know that social isolation is a major factor impacting their health and wellbeing.

“Having a dedicated veterans support coordinator will also help us to develop activities and groups designed for/with veterans, and to support them to make better connections with other veterans groups.

“We are extremely proud of our military heritage and the role Elmfield Hall played in WWI and will ensure this is a highlighted theme as we continue to develop Elmfield Hall.”
