Police are appealing for information after a man died in Colne yesterday (July 4).

A man, 85, died after a being hit by a Honda HR-V on the junction of New Market Street and Hartley Street.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. No arrests have been made.

The man’s family has been informed and are being supported by officers.

Officers are now investigating the circumstances that led to the crash and are appealing for information.

Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage has been asked to get in touch.

A police spokesperson said: “We’ve got some sad news to bring you this morning and are asking for your help.

“Yesterday (July 4), at around 11.10am, we received a report of a collision between a pedestrian and a Honda HR-V on the junction of New Market Street and Hartley Street in Colne.

“Very sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the pedestrian, an 85-year-old man died at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

“Our thoughts are with them at this very sad time. The driver remained at the scene, and no arrests have been made at this stage.

“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are now appealing for your help and asking for anyone with CCTV or Dashcam footage of New Market Street and Hartley Street, between 11.05am and 11.15am, or anyone who may have witnessed this, to get in contact.”
