This picture from 1988 shows the East Lancashire cinema that never was.
This was the view from the projection box of the interior of the Globe Cinema in Padiham which was undergoing a major refit with the hope of bringing the cinema back to life after more that half a century.
It had closed in 1930 when the advent of sound proved too expensive for the necessary equipment to be brought in.
In 1988 proposals were put forward to re-open the Globe which included ambitious plan to reintroduce a cinema organ.
But legal wranglings led to a stalemate and eventually the building was converted into commercial units.
