A Darwen man with terminal cancer wants to have a “dream” wedding with his partner before he becomes too ill – but he needs your help.

Gift of a Wedding, a non-profit charity that gives free wedding services to the terminally ill, has issued an appeal for hairdressers, a videographer, and other services and items.

The charity wants to give the man, who wishes to remain anonymous, a dream wedding in just a matter of days.

The couple’s special day is set to take place on July 11, in Blackburn.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “We were really pleased to approve a very urgent wedding for a lovely gentleman from Darwen, who is terminally ill with cancer.

“His dream is to marry his partner before he becomes too ill to have his wedding day. This couple's special day is on Thursday, July 11, in Blackburn.

“We are desperately appealing to all our supporters in [East Lancashire], Bury, Bolton, Chorley, Preston and all surrounding areas to help us fulfil this urgent wedding dream.

“We appreciate that not everyone has the skills we require to provide a service for our wedding. Please don't worry, you can still support us by making a [monetary] donation.

“To make a text donation text GROOM3 to 70085 to donate £3. This donation costs £3 plus your standard message rate.”

The charity is appealing for the following items:

  • Candy cart and sweets

  • Wedding cake
  • Men's suit hire shop - three piece suit
  • Mobile hairdresser for the bride
