Best villages near Preston for day trips according to locals
Lots of places were mentioned in the comment section of our Facebook post and a few got multiple votes but one village stuck out from the rest.
Downham which you can drive to from Preston in less than an hour is considered the best village for a day out near the city, according to our readers.
One local shared a few of their favourite villages near Preston, including Downham, saying: “Wrea green … Downham grassington” and adding a thumbs up emoji.
Others simply commented the name of the village when having their say.
Some locals also mentioned Scorton as their favourite with one saying: “Some nice places mentioned on here, but somewhere close, Garstang and surrounding areas (Scorton)”.

Another local said: “Scorton is lovely”.
