A Blackburn school has announced the name of its new principal, who will start at the school in September.

Paul Taylor has been announced as the incoming principal of Westholme School for the new school year in September, and will be the seventh person to take on the role at the Meins Road school.

Mr Taylor is currently serving as Head of the Kings’ School in Dubai, a British school for global and local families in the United Arab Emirates city.

He was also previously a headteacher at Fulneck Moravian School in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

A spokesperson for the £4,850 a term school said: "We are delighted to be welcoming our seventh principal to Westholme in September, Mr Paul Taylor.

"Mr Taylor shone out above all other candidates in our rigorous recruitment process and demonstrates all the skills, experience and qualities to build upon the progress that Westholme has made over the last 100 years.

"We are very much looking forward to welcoming him for the start of the next academic year."

Mr Taylor has 14 years in total of senior leadership in the independent school sector and was also a student at St Peter’s York.

After leaving school, Mr Taylor studied politics at Durham University and secured a Fulbright Scholarship.

He is described as a 'keen sportsman' and continues to pursue his passion for politics and history.

The spokesperson added: "We are sure you will join us in welcoming Mr Taylor as we now look forward to another exciting chapter in Westholme’s history."

Mr Taylor takes over from Mark Upton, who was instated as interim principal at Westholme School in March this year, replacing Richard Robson who had been in the role since 2021.
