Two youths were arrested after telling Burnley and Padiham police officers they were “fixing up stolen moped for Mickey Mouse and Nicki Minaj”.
Police found two youths interacting with a moped, which did not have a registration plates, on Tuesday night (June 25).
Officers said they were “not satisfied with their story” after the young people said they were “fixing it up for their friends Mickey Mouse (Disney character) and (pop star) Nicki Minaj".
They were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
Officers contacted the owner of the stolen moped.
A police spokesperson said: “Last night, while attending a separate incident, we stumbled upon two youths interfering with a moped.
“We're not claiming to be experts in mopeds, but the jump leads and lack of reg plates did rouse our suspicions.
“On speaking with the two, we were not satisfied with their story, that they were ‘fixing it up’ for their friends Mickey Mouse and Nicki Minaj. They were subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
“They spent the night in our finest custody suite and we have contacted the owners of the confirmed stolen moped (spoiler alert it did not belong to a Mr Mouse or Miss Minaj)
“Unfortunately lads, if you want to go to the beach-each to get a wave this weekend, you'll have to catch the bus.”
