Short-term train cancellations are due to occur in East Lancashire this weekend, with some services and replacement buses unable to run at all.

Northern Rail advised rail users to check before they travel across the North West this Sunday, June 30, as some services from key train stations are unavailable.

It said it is unable to run trains or replacement buses along the following routes:

  • Colne to Preston
  • Clitheroe to Manchester Victoria
  • Lancaster to Morecambe (with the exception of the Leeds to Morecambe services).

Northern said it 'apologises for any disruption this may cause'.

Other train stops on the Colne to Preston line include Nelson, Brierfield, Burnley Central, Burnley Barracks, Rose Grove, Accrington, Church and Oswadtwistle, Blackburn and Lostock Hall.

Other stops on the Clitheroe to Manchester Victoria line include Whalley, Langho, Ramsgreave and Wilpshire, Blackburn, Darwen, Entwistle and Bromley Cross.

Other services on some routes in and around the North West may be subject to disruption and very short-notice cancellations.

Northern Rail said it encourages everyone to plan ahead and check journeys before travelling, particularly the last trains of the day which may be earlier than usual and may be cancelled at short notice.

If people choose to travel, they are advised to allow plenty of time to do so and not to rely on last services.

Trains currently showing may not run, with control teams working to update the train plan, but passengers should check closer to the time of travel.

If your train is cancelled, you can claim a full refund, provided your ticket was purchased through Northern. More details can be found on Northern's refunds online page.

If your train is delayed you can claim a refund depending on the length of delay using the Delay Repay scheme.
