The M65 was closed near Blackburn for a period last night as police responded to a concern for welfare.
The motorway was closed in both direction between J5 (Shadsworth) and J6 (Blackburn) while police responded.
Police said they were called to a concern for welfare shortly before 9.30pm yesterday evening (June 26).
National Highways confirmed almost an hour later the road had been closed in both directions.
Shortly before midnight, National Highways said: "The earlier incident being managed by Lancashire Police has been resolved and the road has been reopened."
A police spokesperson said: "We received a report of a concern for welfare at 9:20pm last night and the M65 was closed whilst we responded. The motorway has since reopened."
