A Blackburn man will appear in court again later this year after admitting an offence of careless driving.

Danial Arshad, 24, appeared at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday (June 18) where he admitted causing a serious injury to a man through his careless driving on August 31 of last year.

Arshad, of Whalley New Road, was behind the wheel of a Seat Leon and crashed head-on into a cyclist at the traffic lights at the Four Lane Ends junction with Pleckgate Road, Revidge Road and Lammack Road.

CCTV of the incident showed a silver Seat waiting at a set of traffic lights pulls out into the wrong side of the road to go past a car in front which is waiting at the lights.

At the time of the incident, a Lancashire Police spokesperson said: "We were called by the ambulance service shortly before 8pm to reports of a collision between a pedal cycle and a car on Shear Brow, Blackburn.

"The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with fractures."

Arshad will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on October 7.

He was granted unconditional bail until then.
