A popular store owner has spoken of his ‘stress and anguish’ after a car smashed into the front of his business.

The incident happened on Monday, June 24, after 10pm when a BMW, which was parked outside Kebabish restaurant opposite, hit a fence and then slammed into the front of the PC Waves store in Whalley New Road.

Footage from a CCTV camera shows the car veering at speed hitting one vehicle which was parked at the busy traffic lights junction, before crashing into the shop front.

The store was heavily damaged following the crash, with damage to a main interior counter and computer equipment.

Owner Muzammil Pardesi said: “I got a call in the evening saying something had happened at the store.

“The damage to the inside of the store is a lot and we have had to close.

“I am not sure what we are going to do at the moment. It is just a lot of stress and anguish.

“I do not know how they managed to hit the fence and then crash into the storefront.”

PC Waves used to be based near the Meena Bakery across town having opened in 2005.

It specialises in mobile phones and computer equipment and the damage hit the store’s internet connections.

Muzammil said he had to stay at the store until 1am until the area was made secure.

The following morning he said a lot of customers and fellow local businesses had been to see him after hearing of the crash.

“We have been here since 2010 and this is the first time anything like this has happened," he added.

“People have been coming in to see the damage and see if they can support us in any way.

“I have told customers we are closed for the foreseeable future and the landlord is looking at the damage and seeing how this can be fixed.”
