A Blackburn school has posted a tribute video to its year 11 leavers that has left hundreds of people in stitches.
St Wilfrid's Church of England Academy has created its own cover of The Proclaimers’ classic I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) as the school bids farewell to the class of 2024.
In the video, staff can be seen gradually coming together, from various classrooms and hallways, to sing their version of the song which staff have called ‘500 Smiles’.
A spokesperson for the school said: “Farewell to our amazing year 11 students - class of 2024 - we hope you've all had at least 500 smiles during your time here!
“We wish you all the best going forward and can't wait to celebrate with you at prom [this] week”.
The leavers’ video has become a bit of a tradition for the school, creating its own versions of hits from Abba, Neil Diamond and beyond, in previous years.
At the time of writing, more than 1,400 people have interacted with the latest video and hundreds have commented, flooding the school with praise.
One parent said: “Fantastic school, thank you for everything you’ve done for my son.”
Another said: “Okay - this is an EPIC effort.”
“This has got to be the best one yet surely,” said another. “Absolutely brilliant”.
Another said: “This is amazing! Well done to all the amazing teachers.”
Another commenter said: “This is brilliant. There are still some familiar faces from when I was there, I am 35 now. Bet you had a right laugh making this.”
