A YouTuber, who moved to Tenerife 10 years ago, said locals on the island are “concerned and rallying together” to find missing Oswaldtwistle teen, Jay Slater.
Andrew, who has more than 80,000 subscribers on YouTube channel The Knightstrider, said: “I have followed Jay’s story keenly on Facebook. It is very sad and very distressing for the family.
“Locals very concerned and rallying together.”
Andrew Knight, originally from Liverpool, owns a car rental company in Tenerife and is offering 10 cars for people to use for free in the search for Jay Slater, who is missing.
Anyone hoping to hire a car for this purpose has been asked to get in touch with Sanasty Car Hire Tenerife.
Jay's last known location was near Rural de Teno Park - a rugged and mountainous area in the remote northwest corner of Tenerife.
Andrew said: “I have offered around 10 cars for free use to aid the search if tourists or residents want to go to the location to help search.
“It is very remote so it is not possible to get to by bus, so I have offered cars for free for searchers to use over the next few days.
“Four cars have been taken so far and we have received a lot of messages and calls. People are trying to make up search groups.
“I hope that he is found safe and well and all of our thoughts are with his family at this distressing and difficult time. We will continue to help in any way that we can.”
Many people, both in the UK and overseas, have been rallying together to help in any way they can.
A businessperson at Attic Bar Tenerife drove up to give a search party 40 baguettes and 60 water bottles.
Many others have volunteered to search for Jay, in a Facebook group that has since amassed more than 167,000 followers.
A worker at bar The Shamrock Tenerife has also offered their assistance, posting their phone number.
A kind anonymous poster said: “Do you need more help searching? I don't mind booking a flight to come and help fresh eyes and ears when everyone is so tired ... Praying he's safe and taking cover from the heat.”
