A Burnley-based aerospace supplier has announced a new chief financial officer.

Velocity Composites, based at AMS Technology Park in Billington Road, has its sights set on becoming a leader in sustainable composite production after appointing Rob Smith to the role.

Mr Smith is a chartered management accountant, with experience in leadership roles at various tech firms.

His tenure at these companies saw leading growth strategies and operational efficiency improvements.

Mr Smith was most recently the finance chief at Biome Technologies, a bioplastics technology group.

Prior to that, he held both the roles of chief financial officer and chief executive at Filtronics.

Mr Smith said: "This is an exciting time to be joining Velocity Composites as the business grows as an international organisation offering efficiencies in the aerospace industry worldwide.

"The ambitions are high and the aim is to continue to expand in the marketplace working in collaboration with our customers to meet their own targets and business aspirations."

Velocity Composites specialises in advanced carbon fibre and secondary material kits for use in aerospace and associated industries.
