Police in Tenerife said they are doing everything they can to find a missing Lancashire teenager.

Jay Slater, 19, was last spoken to at 8.50am on Monday, June 17. According to a location pin sent to his friend Lucy, his last known location was near Rural de Teno Park.

He said he was lost in the middle of the mountains with nothing around.

A desperate search was underway to find him near the village of Masca, in the Parque Rural de Teno.

Vicky who lives in Tenerife and is from Leyland posted videos of concerned friends and local police near the area where he may have been last seen.

A drone was being used to scan the area.

Vicky posted: “Took Jay's friend up today to Masca and had a chat with the Guardian Civil and proof they are doing what they can with drones, dogs and mountain rescuers, not seen a helicopter yet though.

“Prayers he is found safe if anyone wants to offer to help the family to drive round or put posters out then send them a message.

“I’m sure they would be very grateful, it’s a crazy drive and had me on my toes but I’d do it again to help keep sharing and keep praying.”

A Civil Guard spokeswoman in Tenerife had told reporters: "A specialist Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group called the Greim have been mobilised.

"A police helicopter is also out and focusing on the area around the village of Masca.

"Other emergency services including firefighters have also been mobilised.

"Everything possible is being done to try to find the missing man."
