A woman is celebrating after winning Newsquest's £1,000 DIY competition.
Lynne Hetherington scooped the prize which could be won by readers of daily newspapers across the north of England, including the Lancashire Telegraph, The Bolton News and The Northern Echo.
Ms Hetherington, a long-time reader of the News & Star which is based in Cumbria, always enters competitions she sees in her local daily newspaper.
The Carlisle local, who retired from the Oxfam bookshop on Bank Street six years ago, is now looking forward to spending her winnings.
She said: "I was thrilled. We have a paper every day, I've entered so many competitions and never won anything. I was delighted. I've been subscribing for a few years now.
"I've been looking at the list of places you can spend the vouchers, there is such a range of things you can do with it.
"I think we will probably have a few days away, some meals out... and then do some decorating.
"The chances of winning twice are probably quite slim, but I will keep on doing it."
