Customers at The Rishton Arms celebrated England’s victory over Serbia on a brand new TV thanks to Hisense.

The tech giants had urged local communities to nominate why their pub should get a tech makeover ahead of the Euros.

The Rishton Arms came out on top after being praised for its charity work along and 'incredible' staff. The pub was also described as a 'great pub with great atmosphere', and 'the best in town'.

The pub was then gifted with an 'ultimate 4K Mini-LED makeover' from Hisense, alongside the latest soundbar.

Customers got the chance to watch England's game on the new TV this weekend.

Landlord of The Rishton Arms, Pete Jackon, said: "Football is the heartbeat of the pub, from local team meet-ups to the Euros, it is a fantastic atmosphere when the football is on.

"My best mate's uncle used to own it, I had my first drink here, and it had been boarded up for about six months before we took it over in the middle of Covid.

"Since then, we have spent a lot of money doing it up, and the cherry on the cake is Hisense coming in and fitting us out with new TVs. We are absolutely over the moon, thank you very much."

Arun Bhatoye, head of marketing at Hisense UK, added: “We are delighted to see such a worthy pub win our makeover competition and hope that it provides the local community with an even better experience to watch the football this summer.

"As an Official Partner of the Euro 2024 it is fantastic to see the viewing experience elevated for the tournament and this goes a long way to making sure the atmosphere here in the UK is just as good as it is over in Germany.

"Pubs are important pillars of the local community and so it is fantastic to be able use our latest technology to ensure that everyone can enjoy a brilliant experience watching the tournament at The Rishton Arms.”
